For those that know me well, you'll know I love putting a smile on people's faces and being there to talk to (sometimes to much) and support a friend whenever they need it. I also love to encourage people to get out of their comfort zone and have a crack in life - give it a go, get mud on your boots, you'll always have someone to fall back on and help you up it if doesn't work out!

It has been a really tough month for me. I have struggled a bit and been a bit lost and underwhelmed. Good things in my life late last year are no longer around. I have also realised I don't do anywhere enough for creating positive environments for people feel comfortable opening up and being vulnerable.

That's why in February I am getting severely out of my comfort zone and swimming to splash the stigma. When I facilitated programs for batyr many moons ago they opened my eyes allowing me to see how being so genuine, willing and vulnerable with people can help encourage others to do the same and feel welcomed. I have always pride myself on being exactly this, but I feel I have lapsed in this area over the past year or so!

So, I am hoping to swim 19KM in Feb - it might not seem a lot to you but it is to me cause i don't swim great! That's 100m for every young Aussie that is estimated to take their own life during that month.

I am hoping to raise a bit awareness for this great organisation, remind me to keep myself accountable for my own and friends MH, give myself a challenge (I am not the best swimmer) and hopefully build a space where people want to come down for a swim with a pretty decent bloke (me) and spin a few yarns with a coffee after and create a welcoming environment to talk about MH in a positive way!

Donations are always welcomed, but your presence is more valuable - for you and me (also have a laugh watching me swim)!

Let's get comfortable being uncomfortable!
